Well Informed: Implicit Bias
Implicit bias can be the result of many factors. One factor I consider to be the most influential is upbringing. How a person is raised will contribute to the basic infrastructure of decision making. Utah is a great example of implicit bias. Considering the fact that the overwhelming majority of residents in Utah are LDS, this creates a division among those who are not members of the LDS religion. This is true in all aspects of life. The existence of my own implicit biases were reaffirmed after taking Harvard University's implicit bias test. I was not shown anything I was not already aware of. I do not have a show preference for any specific race and I associate males to be the head of the financial input in a household. An implicit bias that occurs regularly in America is associated with sex. Females are routinely looked at in a different manner than males. Specifically, in the workplace. According the United States department of Labor, women comprised 47 percent of the labor for in 2010. A full time salary for a women was $669, which is only 81 percent of men's $824. Maybe this is why if feel as if men are better suited to be responsible for a household finances. Simply because men will make more for the same amount of work.
